AHA Certified Patient Sitter | IPTJoin a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, where compassionate care and patient safety are top priorities. This role offers the opportunity to provide essential observation and support to medical and suicidal patients under the guidance of licensed nursing staff.General SummaryUnder the supervision of a licensed nurse (RN, LPN, or shift manager), the Patient Sitter delivers continuous observation and minimal assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), focusing on maintaining a safe environment for vulnerable patients.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling.Collaborate closely with nursing staff to meet patients' basic needs and promptly respond to requests, enhancing patient safety and experience.Provide constant 1:1 observation for patients requiring sitter services, ensuring seamless safety coverage.Accurately document patient behaviors and activities at designated intervals according to policy.Communicate relevant patient information to the care team to support improved outcomes and safety.Maintain professionalism and adaptability in a dynamic healthcare environment.Respect patient confidentiality and dignity during all interactions.EducationHigh school diploma or GED preferred.ExperienceAt least one year of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.Certification and LicenseAmerican Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.Mental and Physical RequirementsThis role requires strong mental focus and excellent communication skills. Physical demands include standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.Working ConditionsFrequent exposure to infectious diseases and potentially hostile or agitated individuals. Minimal physical discomfort is expected.
