Air Conditioning Operator (ACO)TVHS VA Medical Facility – Nashville, TNThree (3) Air Conditioning Operators (ACO) In accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS)Place of Performance: Nashville, TN 37212 Rate: $27.43- $29.00Work ScheduleInitial Training Period (Both Trades)Sunday & Saturday: OFFMonday – Friday: 0800–1600ACO Note: Daily supervision required for a minimum of the first 45 days if not certified to work independently. Insufficient training performance may result in termination.Regular Schedule (Post-Training)Boiler Plant Operator (BPO)Shifts: 1600–2400 and 2400–0800 Schedules may change with 72-hour notice based on mission needs.Schedule 1Sun: 2400–0800Mon–Tue: 1600–2400Wed–Thu: OFFFri–Sat: 2400–0800Schedule 2Mon–Fri: 2400–0800Sat/Sun: OFFSchedule 3Sun & Wed–Sat: 1600–2400Mon–Tue: OFFAir Conditioning Operator (ACO)Shifts: 1600–2400 and 2400–0800 (Same rotating schedules as BPO above)Federal Holiday CoverageContracted employees must work federal holidays if scheduled by the COR after successful completion of training.Observed Holidays Include: New Year's Day, MLK Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day.Occupational Health RequirementsMMR vaccine or titerHep B vaccine or titerVaricella vaccine or titerTB skin test, bloodwork, or chest X-rayFlu shotEquipment Knowledge RequirementsAir Conditioning EquipmentMinimum: 12 years qualified experienceAir Handler UnitsCooling TowersChillers (start/stop operations)Pumps, motors, exhaust fansRefrigeration systems, ice machines, walk-in coolersPneumatic tube systemBasic plumbing and electricalSiemens Desigo BAS (1+ year required)REES systemViewpointNotifier fire alarm systemContractor RequirementsAir Conditioning Operator (ACO)ExperienceMinimum 12 months commercial HVAC and building operations experienceCore DutiesOperate multi-zone AC plant (3,000-ton centrifugal chillers + auxiliary systems)Maintain environmental controls for critical areas (ORs, MRI, labs, BMT unit)Hourly inspections and operational loggingRespond to emergent building service failures (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, medical air)Preventive maintenance (weekly/monthly PMs)Fan room maintenance and cleanlinessShift hand-off communication and logbook updates
