Role Overview
Apply air traffic control expertise to help train AI systems using real-world aviation communications. This remote contract role focuses on producing precise, structured transcripts from authentic ATC radio transmissions. No prior AI experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
Listen to ATC radio transmissions and create accurate, structured transcripts according to detailed project guidelines.
Identify and extract critical instructions, including headings, altitudes, frequencies, and clearances.
Use airport diagrams, approach charts, and real-time aircraft positions to improve transcription accuracy.
Apply operational judgment to interpret ambiguous or noisy audio and deliver context-aware extraction.
Meet project accuracy standards, including a word error rate of 2% or lower when required.
Incorporate feedback and participate in iterative review processes to improve output quality and support AI model development.
Protect shared data and follow project security requirements.
Qualifications
Current or former air traffic controller certification in tower, approach, center, or ground operations.
Strong aviation communication and audio transcription skills.
Fluent written and spoken English, including aviation phraseology.
Ability to understand a broad range of accents, including international pilots.
Exceptional attention to detail, critical listening ability, and commitment to consistent, high-quality work.
Ability to work independently within structured guidelines and strict quality benchmarks.
Reliable internet access, a distraction-free workspace, and quality headphones for critical listening.
Experience using aviation maps, charts, diagrams, or navigation tools is preferred.
Work Terms
Remote independent contractor engagement.
Confidential handling of project materials is required.
Compensation
$30 to $50 per hour.
