Job description
nnThe F-16A/B/C or D Aircraft Mechanic Egress (AME) Air force Aircrew Egress System Specialist Technical School graduate mechanic performs organizational, intermediate and limited depot level maintenance to include inspection, operational test, repair, modification and troubleshooting on all assigned aircraft, components and equipment. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and to provide technical assistance, guidance and instruction to other employees as needed.

nnMaintains assigned aircraft in accordance with Navy, and Air Force manufacturer and company distributors.
n
nnResponsible for all egress system on and off equipment maintenance on F-16A/B/C or D models.
n
nnRemoves, transports, inspects, repairs and reinstalls F-16A/B/C or D ejection seats.
n
nnInspects, repairs and cleans seat harnesses.
n
nnInventories, stores, removes and replaces seat CAD/PAD explosive items
n
nnMaintains environmental system on F-16A/B/C or D models.
n
nnMaintains, inspects canopy explosive devices F-16A/B/C or D.
n
nnMaintains and inspects on board oxygen generating system (OBOGS) or Liquid Oxygen (LOX).
n
nnPerforms aircraft scheduled/unscheduled on and off equipment maintenance.
n
nnPerforms aircraft corrosion control procedures to include wash, wipe down, polish and vacuum.
n
nnOperates GSE, flight line vehicles and other support equipment as required.
n
nnDrives tugs for the purpose of towing equipment and aircraft.
n
nnAnnotates maintenance actions in aircraft forms and VIDS/MAF System.
n
nnOrders aircraft/equipment parts.
n
nnSupervises/assists in aircraft/equipment movement and flight line foreign object prevention walks.
n
nnPractices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention and safety at all times.
n
nnShall perform other job-related duties as may be assigned
n
nnThis classification activity is usually accomplished in a hangar/shop/flight line environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with these activities. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards. of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, snow, ice, etc.
n
nnMay be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 70 pounds.
n
nnSpecial vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
n
nnMay be required to perform off-site service on assigned detachments.
n
nnMinimum two (2) years' recent experience in ejection seat maintenance and two (2) years recent egress system repair experience.
n
nnMust have F-16A/B/C or D aircraft maintenance experience.
n
nnShall be a graduate the Air Force F-16A/B/C or D Aircrew Egress System Specialist Technical School T/M/S or factory equivalent ejection seat course of instruction.
n
nnShall be qualified on ground support equipment applicable to the specialty.
n
nnShall be familiar with Navy technical publications.
n
n nMinimum Requirements
nnnCapable of conducting on-the-job training and maintenance of Contractor personnel seat/cockpit safety checkout training records; and shall be experienced and qualified in the removal and replacement of ejection seats, canopies and explosive devices, both "I" and "0" levels.
n
nnValid State Driver's License.
n
nnDemonstrates in-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals, publications, instructions and special tools and test equipment.
n
nnPrevious Military must provide Member 4 DD214 with Honorable Discharge
n
nnMust be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance. .
n
nnMust be able to work all assigned shifts & schedules.
n
nnFormal/Specialized Training or Equivalent.
n
n nPreferred Requirements
nnnHazardous Waste Communication Training.
n
nnFOD and TCP Awareness Trained.
n
nnSecurity Clearance Awareness Training.
n
nnCOMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 Program Awareness.
n
nnISO Program Awareness.
n
nnNALCOMIS/OOMA or Air Force Aircraft Maintenance Management system.
n
nnESD Trained.
n
nnSupport Equipment Operator's License (Tow Tractor, N2 Servicing Trailer and Mobile Start Unit at a minimum.)
n
nnCollateral Duty Inspector (in 2 T/M/S aircraft).
n
nnEgress System Checkout.
n
nnNon-Nuclear Ordnance Explosive Handling Certified.
n
nnPlane Captain Qualified.
n
nnAircraft Towing Certified.
n
nnAircraft Brake Rider Certified.
n
nnOperational Risk Management (ORM) Training.
n
nnFuel Surveillance Trained, Engine Run ( 1 T/M/S minimum) Troubleshooter/Final Checker Certified.
