Job description
Aircraft Painter (Aviation) CBA - Ft. Hood, Killeen, TXThe Aviation Aircraft Painter is responsible for the striping and painting of aircraft and other aircraft related components. Ensures compliance with the procedures for the storage, disposal and usage of chemicals and hazardous materials used or generated in the process of aircraft painting.Coordinates with maintenance in the preparation of aircraft painting.Coats surfaces of aircraft, support equipment, and allied components with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin, or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other devices.Removes old paint from aircraft, using liquid paint remover and scraper as well as blasting with plastic media.Smooths surface with sandpaper and steel wool.Roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to ensure that paint adheres to surface.Masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted.Paints insignia, letters, or numerals on aircraft surface using stencils.Knowledge of military publications, microfilm, and diagrams is mandatory.Knowledge of military and/or company forms required by work requirements.Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.Minimum RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED Equivalent is Required.A minimum of Two (2) years' experience painting with recent experience in the preparation and painting of ground vehicles, aircraft, support equipment, and allied component surfaces.U.S. Military technical school or specialized training course is desired.Knowledge of preparation and painting of aircraft, support equipment, and allied components.Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Must be able to pass/meet physical requirements for PPE/Respirator and Fit Test qualification.A valid Driver's License is required.Clearance Requirements:Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Govt Security Clearance, NAC-I (T1) Public Trust. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is Required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.Physical Requirements/Working EnvironmentMust be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.May be required to lift/push/pull heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.Will handle dirty parts and lubricants.May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.May work in maintenance shop or outside.Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty.May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.May be expected to work in austere environments and all-weather conditions.Compensation Details:$34.26The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued.
