Phlebotomist
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join our laboratory team. This position involves collecting blood specimens, as well as receiving, handling, and processing specimens for laboratory testing. The Phlebotomist will interact with patients of diverse ages and backgrounds while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and policies.
Responsibilities
Collect blood specimens from patients and perform specimen processing for laboratory testing.
Sort and accession specimens, assigning them to the appropriate pre-analytic and analytic workflows.
Complete computerized tasks related to patient registration, test order entry, and specimen processing.
Perform basic post-analytic tasks, including distributing reports and managing specimen storage and retrieval.
Maintain quality-related documentation of work and uphold a clean, stocked, and safe work area.
Monitor pending work and escalate priority tasks as needed.
Operate and use basic pre-analytic laboratory equipment.
Schedule & Shift Details
This position may require variable shifts, which could include 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts with a guaranteed 40 hours per week. Weekend scheduling may be required, potentially every weekend or every other weekend, based on census and staffing needs.
Possible shift start times include: Day shifts: or
Night shifts: with nights being generally 10 hours, but weekend nights may extend to 12 hours as needed
Qualifications Required certifications: Basic Life Support (BLC) and Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) state license.
Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.
Attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety in specimen handling and laboratory practices.
