Job Description
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to deliver exceptional respiratory care services for adult and geriatric patients. This role is essential in offering support to patients with respiratory diseases as prescribed by physicians and in accordance with departmental policies.
Job Summary
The Registered Respiratory Therapist will perform critical respiratory care services and will work independently while also supervising others as delegated. Responsibilities include the completion of necessary paperwork and electronic medical records for each patient.
Essential Functions
Assess and document the appropriateness of prescribed therapy, including providing recommendations for patients receiving respiratory care services.
Administer aerosol and oxygen therapy while maintaining accurate charts.
Perform arterial blood gas draws as per policy and physician orders.
Provide care to ventilator patients and assist in departmental record keeping and operations.
Participate in the training and supervision of new employees in the department.
Document care provided, maintain treatment records, and generate necessary documents for charges or record-keeping.
Assist in instructing nursing personnel on the surveillance of patients and equipment post-installation.
Perform drainage procedures and provide additional patient care related to cardio-respiratory diseases.
Offer suggestions regarding patient treatment and pulmonary progress.
Job Requirements
Education and Work Experience Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
Licenses and Certifications Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) credential or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential: Preferred
Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license: Required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor: Required
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from an approved vendor: Required at time of hire or within 90 days
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor: Required at time of hire or within 90 days
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from an approved vendor: Required at time of hire or within 90 days
Experience At least two years of recent experience in the field.
Experience with adults, newborns, ventilators, and arterial blood gases is required.
