As an Accredited Medical Assistant, you will work closely with licensed nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers to ensure a smooth clinical experience for patients.General SummaryThis role involves delivering patient care within your skill set, supporting clinical staff, and maintaining a professional and organized work environment. You will be expected to multitask effectively, think critically, and thrive in a fast-paced setting.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling.Escort patients, obtain vital signs, perform EKGs, verify medications and allergies, and document patient histories accurately.Manage phone communications, route messages, and assist with patient inquiries and test result follow-ups.Support medication renewals and authorizations, administer medications as ordered, and perform point-of-care lab testing.Schedule appointments, procedures, and admissions as directed by providers.Complete necessary paperwork, prior authorizations, referrals, and documentation promptly.Maintain supply inventory and ensure exam areas are clean and well-stocked.Educate patients on electronic health record access and assist with patient portal setup.Assist in orienting and training new medical assistants.Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, adaptability, and maintain excellent attendance.EducationCompletion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program is required, or equivalent experience. A high school diploma is also necessary.ExperienceAt least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or similar role is preferred but not mandatory. Experience in a medical clinic setting is advantageous.Certification/LicenseRegistered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credentials from an accredited organization such as the American Medical Technologist (AMT) are preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.Mental/Physical RequirementsThis position requires considerable mental focus, the ability to lift up to 35 lbs., and frequent walking, standing, and various physical movements including turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.Working ConditionsExpect regular exposure to infectious diseases and occasional encounters with challenging individuals. Minimal physical discomfort is anticipated.
