AMA-Certified Medical Assistant - Cardiac Surgery SupportJoin a dedicated healthcare team supporting physicians and licensed medical staff in a busy cardiac surgery clinic located in the Southeastern United States. This role involves both administrative and clinical responsibilities, ensuring patients receive compassionate and efficient care.Key Responsibilities:Assist with patient vital signs, update charts, and compile relevant data in compliance with regulatory and quality standards.Administer care under physician supervision, including treatments, dressing changes, medication administration, and therapies.Support providers during procedures and examinations, including chaperoning and setup.Handle and prepare instruments for sterilization and manage biohazard and pharmaceutical waste according to OSHA guidelines.Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment by following infection prevention protocols.Manage front desk duties such as greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and assisting with coding and billing processes.Coordinate with external healthcare partners to support patient care plans.Monitor electronic health record communications and respond promptly.Perform components of well visits and scheduled nursing visits as directed.Float to other clinics as needed and perform high-level disinfection tasks.Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent required.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant II program or enrollment in a master's level Health Science program, or at least 2 years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant.Preferred certifications include CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent from recognized organizations.Two years of clinical experience in an outpatient setting is preferred.Skills and Abilities:Ability to recognize and respond to life-threatening situations and activate emergency services.Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, staff, and providers both in person and via phone.Physical ability to perform clinical tasks including standing, walking, bending, and lifting.Comfortable with potential exposure to blood and other infectious materials.
