As a Medical Assistant, you will work closely with licensed nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers to ensure smooth clinic operations and excellent patient experiences.General SummaryThis role involves supporting clinical staff by performing patient care tasks within your scope, maintaining professionalism, and demonstrating strong organizational and multitasking skills. You will be a critical thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment and values excellent customer service.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdhere to established safety protocols including infection control and safe patient handling.Provide direct patient interaction such as escorting patients, obtaining vital signs and EKGs, verifying medications and allergies, and documenting medical histories and visit reasons accurately and promptly.Manage communication by routing phone messages, answering patient questions, and assisting with physician return calls.Assist with medication renewals, authorizations, and administration (oral, IM, SQ) as ordered.Perform point-of-care lab testing and collect specimens for laboratory analysis.Schedule appointments, diagnostic procedures, and surgeries as directed by providers.Complete necessary paperwork including prior authorizations and referrals in a timely manner.Monitor and maintain supply inventory and ensure exam areas are clean and well-stocked.Educate patients on electronic health record portals and assist with enrollment.Support orientation and training of new medical assistants.Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, adaptability, and maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.EducationCompletion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program is required, or equivalent experience. A high school diploma is also required.ExperienceAt least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or similar role is preferred but not mandatory. Experience in a medical clinic setting is advantageous.Certification and LicensesRegistered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credentials from an accredited organization such as the American Medical Technologist (AMT) are preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.Mental and Physical RequirementsThis position requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.Working ConditionsExpect frequent exposure to infectious diseases and occasional encounters with hostile individuals. Exposure to communicable diseases through blood and body fluids is common, with minimal physical discomfort overall.
