Job description

Join a highly skilled Infrastructure Engineering team focused on building and supporting a modern virtualized platform that blends enterprise data warehousing, AI, and analytics into a unified lakehouse architecture. This remote opportunity is ideal for a VMware Cloud Engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, improving virtualization performance, and collaborating across teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, test, troubleshoot, and support virtualization infrastructure for an on-premises platform environment.

Work closely with engineering and DevOps teams to improve test strategies, build automation, and strengthen deployment processes.

Perform end-to-end validation to ensure platform functionality, stability, and integration across systems.

Evaluate and improve information security across virtualized infrastructure.

Apply virtualization best practices within enterprise environments.

Optimize network hardware and software to support virtualization integration and performance.

Investigate early indicators of platform risk and help address potential feature or application issues.

Conduct root cause analysis for customer-reported issues and contribute to long-term solutions.

Partner with cross-functional teams to support new platform capabilities and customer needs.

Create and maintain technical documentation and product materials as needed.

Skills

Strong expertise in virtualization technologies, including hypervisors and network virtualization.

Hands-on experience with KVM and Harvester.

Deep knowledge of VMware technologies such as vSphere, vSAN, vMotion, vCenter, and/or vRA.

Proven experience with enterprise VMware deployment best practices.

Ability to automate VMware environments using tools such as PowerCLI, Python, or Go.

Experience using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform for VMware deployments.

Ability to troubleshoot issues within vSphere clusters using tools such as pktcap-uw, esxtop, and esxcli.

Working knowledge of L2 and L3 networking protocols.

Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Programming or scripting experience in Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or similar languages.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex technical problems.

Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical partners.

Preferred Skills

Experience with VMware alternatives such as KVM/Nutanix or RedHat/OpenShift.

VMware Certified Advanced Professional certification.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 7+ years of experience.

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of experience.

PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 2+ years of experience.

Experience working in collaborative, fast-moving engineering environments.

Ability to document solutions clearly and communicate findings to a variety of audiences.
