AMPP / NACE Coatings InspectorTitle: AMPP / NACE Coatings InspectorLocation: Baltimore, MD Schedule: On-Site (Project-Based) Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: $35 - $50 hourly. depending on experience and qualifications. Per diem and travel reimbursement may be available for qualifying projects.About the PositionHRV Conformance Verification Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced AMPP / NACE Coatings Inspector to join our growing team in the Baltimore, Maryland area. This position supports civil engineering projects including bridges, water towers, and structural steel projects by ensuring protective coating systems are applied in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.The successful candidate will perform quality assurance inspections throughout all phases of the coating process, including surface preparation, environmental monitoring, coating application, and final acceptance. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, project managers, and clients.Primary ResponsibilitiesCoatings Inspection (90%)Perform quality assurance inspections of protective coating applications on bridges and structural steelVerify surface preparation, cleanliness, and profile in accordance with project specificationsInspect abrasive blasting operations and surface preparation activitiesMonitor and document environmental conditions before and during coating applicationMeasure and verify dry film thickness (DFT) and wet film thickness (WFT)Inspect coating application techniques, curing, and final appearanceIdentify coating deficiencies and document non-conforming workReview contractor quality control documentation and testing resultsEnsure compliance with project specifications, AMPP standards, SSPC standards, ASTM standards, and applicable DOT requirementsPrepare detailed daily inspection reports and supporting documentationCommunicate inspection findings with contractors, project managers, and clientsMaintain inspection equipment and calibration recordsPromote and maintain safe work practices on active project sitesProject Documentation & Administrative Responsibilities (10%)Prepare and submit accurate daily and/or weekly inspection reports documenting work performed, inspection findings, testing results, and compliance with project specificationsMaintain organized inspection records, photographs, and supporting project documentationSubmit weekly timesheets and expense reports accurately and on time in accordance with company proceduresParticipate in project meetings and communicate inspection findings with project managers, contractors, and clients as requiredAssist with project closeout documentation and other inspection assignments as business needs requireMinimum QualificationsCurrent AMPP (formerly NACE) Coatings Inspector CertificationMinimum of 2 years of coatings inspection experienceExperience performing surface preparation and coating inspectionsValid driver's license with an acceptable driving recordStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and access elevated work areasAbility to prioritize multiple assignments while maintaining exceptional attention to detailWhy Join HRV?Competitive compensation with overtime opportunitiesPer diem and travel reimbursement for qualifying assignmentsOpportunity to work on high-profile bridge and infrastructure projectsCollaborative team environmentProfessional development and certification supportStable and growing professional services organization with over 22 years of industry experienceNationwide and international project opportunitiesHRV Conformance Verification Associates, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other protected characteristic.HRV promotes affirmative action for minorities, women, individuals with disabilities, and veterans.HRV is a smoke-free and drug-free workplace.
