Anatomic Pathology AssistantLocation: UF Health Leesburg HospitalSchedule: 7:45am - 4:15pmEmployment Type: PRNUnder general supervision of the Laboratory Director, Pathologist, and Histology Manager, the Anatomic Pathology Assistant performs, but is not limited to: computer accessioning of surgical, cytology, and flow cytometry specimens, possesses exceptional customer service skills with outside physicians' offices and medical staff, faxes and scans documents, schedules frozen section procedures, fills supply orders for AP clients, orders specimen pick-ups with lab couriers, has medical terminology knowledge, familiarity with ICD-9/10 and CPT codes, performs Cytology processing, when needed.ResponsibilitiesPosition Performance Evaluation CompletionMonitors, maintains AP supply ordersCompetent in accessioning specimens in Cerner, Star, CopiaExhibits exceptional customer service skills with outside offices and medical staffFaxes/ scans documentsSchedules frozen section proceduresKnows how to do Send-Out specimensReview Laboratory policies that pertain to jobKnowledge of medical terminologyOrders specimen pick-ups through lab couriersFamiliarity with ICD-10 codes, CPT codesPerforms Cytology processing, when neededCompletes assigned work as scheduled in allotted time frameAttends Staff MeetingsRequired competencies and mandatory education as assignedDemonstrates behavior standards that enhance positive interactions with physicians, and peersQualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma/GEDSpecial Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience RequiredMedical Terminology, preferred.1-3 years experience required.Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
