n*Summary:
n*Assumes responsibility, under supervision of Operating Room Leadership/Anesthesiologist and Registered Nurse, for the set-up and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and monitors supplies.Assistsanesthesiologist in delivery of anesthetic care for a specific group of neonates, pediatric, adolescent,adult,or geriatric patientsin accordance withSurgical Services and Anesthesia Department’s established policies and procedures.
nEssential Responsibilities
nnnAssumes responsibility to ensure proper functioning of all equipment by usingappropriate qualitycontrol procedures on a routine basis.
n
nnWorks collaboratively as a team member when providing patient care to promote positive patient outcomesand tomaintaincontinuity of patient care through clear communication and professional working relationships including pertinent oral and/or written report to oncoming relief/ancillary personnel.
n
nnAssistsin placement of invasive monitoring lines, initiation of regionalanesthesiaand other anesthetic procedures as assigned.
n
nnSets up all pressure transducers and ensures proper calibration of transducers and monitors.
n
nnFollows established policies for all safety and infection control practices andmonitorsthe environment and equipment to ensure cleaning standards aremaintained.
n
nnRemains available and accessible when on duty oron-call
n
nnDemonstrates knowledge of current trends and practices inhealthcare field as evidence byattending inservices for equipment,suppliesand procedures.
n
nnUtilizes material,equipment,and time in a safe,therapeuticand cost-effective manner.
n
nnResponds to all supervisors’ requests for information andassistsina timelyand courteous manner.
n
n nEducation and Experience Requirements:
nRequires high school diploma or equivalent.
n1 year experience as an Anesthesia Technician or 2 years’ experience as an Operating Room Patient Care Technician or equivalent experience
nLicense, Registration, orCertificationRequirements:
nBasic Life Saving (AHA or ARC)
nPreferred: Anesthesia Technician certification from a National or State recognized professional organization which requires an accrediting exam.
nPreferred: Certified Nursing Assistant and/or EKG Certification
