nnOpen to Current Jackson Residents Only*
n nThe Anesthesiology Resident TP* participates in structured programs to develop skills in the specialized area of anesthesiology and gain core competencies as prescribed.
nCORE FUNCTIONS:
nnnReceives a focused experience in regional anesthesia during the block rotation.
n
nnEvaluates patient’s therapeutic plan under the supervision of senior residents and attending staff.
n
nnAssists Anesthesiologist by setting-up equipment and preparing medications.
n
nnStarts IV’s and draws arterial and venous blood gases independently.
n
nnPlaces central lines, arterial catheters, and chest tubes.
n
nnFacilitates attending physician’s decisions regarding invasive procedures prior to initiation.
n
nnPrepares and maintains patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems pre, intra, and post anesthesia.
n
nnTakes into consideration age-specific issues to meet the needs of various patient groups.
n
nnMaintains quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
n
nnDocuments and maintains preventative maintenance and quality records.
n
nnParticipates in multidisciplinary rounds and meetings, and in-services.
n
nnAdheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
n

nCORE QUALIFICATIONS
nnnM.D., D.O., or comparable degree in relevant field
n
nnCertification in relevant specialty or field
n
nnMinimum 2 years of experience
n
nnSkill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
n
nnAbility to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
n
nnAbility to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
n
nnAbility to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
n
