Job description
Animal Research Technician IPerforms animal husbandry and health care in accordance with study protocols, Animal Welfare Act regulations, NIH guidelines, AAALAC accreditation requirements, and client policies. Responsible for daily animal care, health observations, documentation, facility sanitation, equipment maintenance, animal handling, sample collection, scientific procedures, and assisting with necropsies. Works in a laboratory animal research environment under Biosafety Level 1 and 2 conditions. May provide guidance to junior team members and participate on site committees and workgroups.• Experience working with animals preferred • Animal husbandry, livestock, veterinary technician, or laboratory animal experience preferred • Ability to accurately complete documentation and follow SOPs • Ability to recognize and communicate animal health concerns • Comfortable working in a research environment and assisting with scientific procedures • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs occasionally and 50 lbs frequently • Must be able to work in hot, cold, humid, noisy, and physically demanding environments • Must not have allergies to animals or livestock/feed dustHigh School Diploma or GED required
