This position provides for the general welfare of animals at the Davis County Animal Shelter including daily cleaning, feeding, enrichment to animals and provides support for adoptions, behavior care, and intake exams. Applications will be accepted through October 15, 2026This position requires working 10 hr shifts, including weekends, and holidays.Pay Range and Benefits:Entry-Level (No prior experience): $16.31 per hourExperienced (1+ years in animal care): $16.31 – $23.20 per hour, with starting salary determined by your specific qualifications and directly related work experience.In addition to competitive pay, we offer the following benefits:Affordable Medical, dental, and vision coverage DAY ONE!13 vacation days and 12 paid sick leave days3 paid personal preference days and 12 paid holidays4 weeks of paid parental leave after 6 monthsFull pension retirementAnnual performance increases up to 2.5%401k match of 2%Free Employee Assistance Program (EAP)Requirements:Level I: High School Diploma or equivalent.Level II: High school graduation or equivalent plus one (1) year of full-time employment in veterinary science or animal care.A combination of related education and experience may be considered.Preference for experience working directly with companion animals in animal welfare, training, or other animal-related fields.Must have, or obtain within six (6) months of hire date, a valid euthanasia certification including completion of a euthanasia training program.Our Ideal Candidate:The ideal candidate loves animals and has the ability to handle individual animals in a safe, caring and respectful manner. The ideal candidate contributes to regular dialogue and accountability with superiors and the team.Day to Day Duties:Works with and around all types of animals and animal matter in enclosed areas.Performs kenneling of dogs and cats brought to the shelter.Provides food and water for animals.Cleans animal cages, kennels, traps and transport carriers; assists in daily routine cleaning.Meets and assists visitors who come to the shelter.
