Custodial & Grounds WorkerHaddon Heights School District Haddon Heights, NJ Anticipated opening: Full-time with medical benefits HHEA ESP Contract Custodian/Grounds Worker Salary Guide Step Salary 1 36,370 2-6 36,770 7 37,170 8 38,070 9 38, , , , , , , , , ,468Reports To: Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds and PrincipalMajor Duties and Responsibilities:Open/closes the building each day, ensuring that all windows and doors are secured and all lights are turned off in their assigned areas at the end of the dayKeeps the building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all timesSweeps and/or vacuums and dusts assigned areas dailyEmpties trash and recycling in assigned areas dailyCleans chalkboards/dry erase boards dailyCleans corridors after each school day, and during the day when their condition requires itCleans and sanitizes bathroom fixtures and floors daily, and replenishes paper and soap supplies as neededCleans and sanitizes assigned drinking fountains dailyCleans cafeteria dining areas as assignedExecutes environmental accommodations related to student health and safety and implements specific cleaning directions and other required measures to further the protection of students and/or staff members with potentially life-threatening allergies and/or physical disabilitiesObeys all fire/safety and environmental laws and regulations relating to the plant operationMoves furniture or equipment within the building as required for various activities and as directed by a supervisorComplies with all laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of chemicals, recyclables, trash, waste, and debrisConducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep and repair, reporting repair needs promptly to a supervisorCleans windows on both the inside and outside as scheduledCleans light fixtures as scheduledKeeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservationShovels, plows, salts, and/or sweeps sidewalks, steps, driveways and parking areas as necessaryMay be required to wear a standard uniform selected by the district for security purposesWork outdoors in a variety of weather conditions during all seasons of the yearAssumes responsibility for the comprehensive overall planning and scheduling of grounds maintenanceMaintains schedules of work for each building and ensures that proper supplies are on handEnsures proper maintenance and operation of grounds equipment, including motorized vehicles, tools and machineryOperates and cares for hand tools, power tools and equipment and/or vehicles used on the jobPrepares playing fields, grounds, and other necessary facilities for athletics and other school activitiesUpon training and certification, assumes responsibility for the implementation of the district's school integrated pest management policy as required by statuteUpon training and certification, provides proper notification of pesticide applications, maintains required records, and responds to inquiries regarding the pest management programOversees the appropriate use, storage, and disposal of hazardous substancesCollaborates directly with borough officials and others regarding the care and maintenance of groundsRecommends for purchase necessary equipment and supplies and maintains an inventory of themInspects all school grounds on a regular basis, ensuring that school premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas are neat and clean at all timesPerforms other duties which may be within the scope of their employment and certifications as may be assigned by the superintendent or designeePreferred: N.J.
