Your duties include but not limited to working collaboratively with a physician and under the clinical supervision of the Medical Directors. The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) provides medical evaluations and ongoing medication treatment to Oncology patients being co‑managed with Oncology specialist physicians. This patient population includes solid tumor, malignant hematology, bone marrow transplant, CAR‑T therapy and other clinical cancer research trial patients.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Participates in data collection related to the patients’ status and needs.
Perform initial hospital admissions and initiate care coordination for patients being admitted
either for primary treatment of oncologic issues or medical‑surgical issues.
Collaborate with specialists and incorporate consultant recommendations into the treatment
plan.
Provides direct patient care to hospitalized Oncology patients within scope of practice to ensure
implementation of the plan of care.
Informs and instructs patients/significant others on patient’s health/illness state and plan of
care.
Documents clearly all aspects of patient care in the electronic medical record.
Administers medications and parenteral therapy in accordance with established policies.
Preferred candidates should have:
At least 2 years of acute care hospital experience as an APN
Prior experience as a bedside nurse preferably in oncology, ICU, or ER setting
Prior Oncology experience strongly preferred but not necessary.
Additionally ideal candidates will have:

For those with disorders of the chest, our thoracic surgery team provides the most appropriate minimally invasive surgical techniques. The majority of patients have video‑assisted thoracoscopic, laparoscopic or robotic surgeries to minimize blood loss and reduce postoperative pain, resulting in shorter hospital stays and a faster recovery to daily activities. The Breast Center at the Ambulatory Care Center — one of the nation’s largest and most comprehensive breast diagnostic centers — performs close to 50,000 procedures annually with coordinated care and patient navigation to the medical and surgical expertise and services available through CBMC. The Breast Center now has a dedicated MRI enhancing the continuum of care for patients.
CBMC is accredited by The Joint Commission and the American Medical Association Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. The medical center is a major teaching affiliate of Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. The medical staff representing 100 medical and surgical specialty and subspecialty services, shares medical expertise with medical students, residents and fellows.
