Apprentice CarpenterMountaintop Construction Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking Apprentice Carpenter to join our growing field operations team in Towaco, NJ. This hands-on entry-to-mid-level role is designed for an ambitious individual eager to build a long-term trade career in residential and commercial carpentry alongside seasoned lead carpenters and master craftsmen.Working directly under the guidance of experienced site leaders, you will assist with framing, layout, cabinet installation, finish millwork, and jobsite logistics. If you bring a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and a desire to learn high-end custom carpentry from the ground up, this position offers steady year-round work, direct mentorship, and exceptional career advancement within a supportive, family-oriented contractor.Key ResponsibilitiesDaily Carpentry Support: Assist Lead Carpenters and field supervisors with rough and finish carpentry tasks across residential and commercial jobsites.Site Preparation and Layout: Help set up work areas, measure, cut materials, and assist with wall, roof, and structural framing layouts according to blueprints.Installation Assistance: Support the assembly and installation of cabinetry, trim, doors, windows, millwork, and custom interior finishes.Tool and Material Stewardship: Transport, stage, organize, and maintain tools, heavy materials, lumber, and specialized carpentry equipment safely.Jobsite Logistics and Safety: Enforce site cleanliness, assist with daily cleanup, set up safety barriers, and adhere strictly to company safety protocols and OSHA standards.Active Learning and Mentorship: Follow technical directions from senior crew leads, learn blueprint reading, and master trade methodologies to expand your carpentry skillset.Team Communication: Maintain open, respectful communication with lead carpenters, subcontractors, and project managers to keep daily tasks moving efficiently.What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)RequiredIndustry Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in general construction, carpentry assistance, framing, or residential remodeling preferred.Trade Aptitude: Basic understanding of carpentry hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and basic construction techniques.Physical Capability: Strong physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, climb ladders, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.Professional Attributes: Honest, punctual, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and driven by a strong desire to learn the carpentry trade.Driver Credentials: Valid driver's license with reliable transportation to jobsite locations across Northern New Jersey.PreferredEducational Foundation: Completion of a vocational construction program, trade school training, or high school diploma.Language Capabilities: Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.Safety Certifications: OSHA 10-hour or basic jobsite safety credentials.Compensation & BenefitsGuaranteed Hourly Pay: $20.00 to $25.00 per hour, paid on a dependable weekly pay cycle.Performance Upside: Eligibility for project performance bonuses and company profit-sharing opportunities.Health & Wellness: Medical insurance options with employee coverage.Future Security: Retirement savings program.Paid Time Off: Earned PTO allocations covering paid holidays, vacation days, and sick leave.Career Investment: Complete uniforms provided, company-paid technical training, and direct mentorship to advance to Journeyman and Lead Carpenter roles.Family Culture: Supportive, family-like work environment with ongoing team events and community charity initiatives.Mountaintop Construction Inc. is a family-owned general contractor specializing in high-quality residential and commercial construction across Northern New Jersey.
