Job description

We are seeking a professional and dependable Armed Guard to support security operations at a CDC facility in Atlanta, GA. The Armed Guard will be responsible for protecting government personnel, facilities, equipment, and property while maintaining a safe and secure environment.

nThe successful candidate will demonstrate strong situational awareness, sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm and composed in routine and emergency situations. This position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a security team while following established post orders, procedures, and applicable federal security requirements.

nPosition is located in Fort Collins, CO

nResponsibilities

nnnProtect Government Property: Guard buildings, equipment, materials, and other government property while controlling access for employees, visitors, and authorized personnel.

n

nnAccess Control: Monitor and control entry and exit points in accordance with established security procedures and post orders.

n

nnEmergency Response: Respond appropriately to emergencies, security incidents, alarms, and other unexpected situations; enforce applicable rules and regulations and assist emergency personnel as needed.

n

nnCrowd, Parking, and Traffic Control: Provide direction and assistance with pedestrian, vehicle, parking, and traffic control as required.

n

nnProfessional Interaction: Escort and interact with government personnel, visitors, law enforcement, emergency responders, and members of the public while maintaining a professional demeanor.

n

nnMaintain Composure: Exercise poise, sound judgment, and self-control during stressful or emergency situations.

n

nnSecurity Equipment: Operate security equipment, including metal detectors, X-ray systems, CCTV, communication equipment, and other security-related systems as required.

n

nnFirearms: Safely carry, handle, and utilize a firearm in accordance with applicable federal, state, site, and company requirements.

n

nnReport Writing: Prepare clear, concise, accurate, and grammatically correct reports documenting security incidents, activities, and other required information.

n

nnPost Orders: Read, understand, and follow written post orders, security procedures, and instructions.

n

nnCommunications: Respond appropriately to routine and emergency dispatches and maintain clear communication with supervisors, dispatch personnel, law enforcement, and other emergency responders.

n

nnEmergency Medical Assistance: Perform emergency actions, including first aid and CPR, within the scope of training and certification until appropriate medicalassistance arrives.

n

nnFacility Security: Maintain continuous awareness of activities occurring within assigned areas and promptly report suspicious activity, safety concerns, security violations, or other unusual circumstances.

n

n nQualifications

nnnHigh School Diploma or GED required.

n

nnCandidates must meet at least one of the following:

n

nnThree (3) years of security experience within the past five (5) years; or

n

nnThree (3) years of military or National Guard service, active or reserve; or

n

nnAssociate degree or higher in a security, criminal justice, law enforcement, or related field; or

n

nnSuccessful completion of a police officer's basic training academy; or

n

nnEquivalent combination of experience and education as approved by the appropriate government/site authority.

n

nnPrior military, civilian, or security guard experience is preferred.

n

n nAdditional Requirements

nnnMust be at least 21 years of age .

n

nnMust possess a valid state driver's license.

n

nnMust be able to successfully complete all required background screening, psychological evaluation, drug testing, and initial training.

n

nnMust successfully complete all required site-specific training.

n

nnMust obtain and maintain all required permits, licenses, certifications, firearms qualifications, and security clearances required for the position and site.

n

nnMust be able to fluently speak, read, comprehend, and write in English.

n

nnMust demonstrateproficiency with computers, including typing and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Outlook.

n

nnMust be able to read and understand post orders and prepare accurate, detailed, and grammatically correct reports.

n

nnMust meet all applicable federal, contract, and site suitability requirements.

n

nnMust maintain documentation demonstrating compliance with applicable employment eligibility and federal requirements.

n

nnCandidates must meet applicable federal and site requirements regarding illegal drug use, sale, possession, or manufacture, including any required look-back period.

n

n nPhysical and Environmental Requirements

nThe physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

nnnFrequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping for up to 12 hours per day.

n

nnAbility to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, humidity, cold, rain, wind, sleet, and snow.

n

nnAbility to remain on post for up to four consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or using restroom facilities, as required by the assigned post.

n

nnAbility to sustain alertness for up to 12 hours and react quickly to unexpected situations using sight, hearing, smell, and touch.

n

nnAbility to operate security equipment, including metal detectors, X-ray systems, CCTV, and other security systems.

n

nnAbility to safely carry and utilize a firearm as required and in accordance with applicable requirements.

n

nnAbility to occasionally run, sprint, lift heavy items, move objects, and climb stairs in support of emergency operations, facility evacuations, or other security requirements.

n

nnAbility to tolerate physical exertion and sudden emotional stress associated with emergency and security situations.

n

nnContractor personnel must successfully complete any required physical evaluationdemonstratingappropriate endurance, physical conditioning, ability to safely use firearms and security equipment, and capability to perform the physical requirements of the position.

n

n nFederal Employment Requirements:

nIn compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification documentation upon hire.

nTraining and Certification

nSelected candidates must successfully complete all required training and demonstrate proficiency in the duties and responsibilities of the position prior to assignment. This may include site-specific security training, firearms qualification, emergency response procedures, first aid/CPR, use of security equipment, and other training required by the contract or government site.
