Job description
Armed Protective Security OfficerMeritus Solutions Group is seeking professional Armed Protective Security Officers (PSOs) to support federal facilities in Waco, Temple, and surrounding areas of Central Texas. Protective Security Officers are responsible for protecting federal facilities, personnel, visitors, and government property through access control, security monitoring, patrol operations, emergency response, and force protection activities. This position requires professionalism, sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate in a highly regulated federal security environment. Applicants must possess a current Texas Level III Commissioned Security Officer License. Candidates without an active Level III Commission Card will not be considered.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Provide armed security services at designated federal facilitiesControl access to federal buildings and restricted areasMonitor security systems and conduct security inspectionsProtect personnel, visitors, equipment, and government propertyConduct patrols and perimeter security checksRespond appropriately to emergencies and security incidentsPrepare accurate incident reports and daily activity logsMaintain compliance with federal, contract, and company requirementsCommunicate professionally with government personnel, visitors, and the publicPerform additional security-related duties as assignedApplicants must:Be a U.S. CitizenBe at least 21 years of agePossess a High School Diploma or GEDHave a minimum of: Two (2) years of armed security experience, OR Prior military experience with honorable discharge, OR Prior law enforcement experienceSuccessfully pass: Federal background investigation, Medical evaluation, Drug screeningBe able to obtain and maintain required government security credentialsBe able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluentlyBe capable of preparing clear and accurate written reportsApplicants must possess:Current Texas Level III Commissioned Security Officer LicenseValid Driver's LicenseCurrent CPR / First Aid / AED CertificationAll applicants must successfully complete a federal background investigation and obtain all required government suitability determinations prior to assignment. Meritus Solutions Group will assist qualified candidates with the federal clearance process.All newly hired officers must successfully complete required contract training before standing post. Training includes: One (1) week of in-person range and weapons qualification training, Two (2) days of x-ray and screening equipment training, Additional contract-specific training as required. All training is paid, and employees will receive training pay during the qualification process. Meritus provides: Duty weapon, Ammunition, Uniforms, Duty gear, Required security equipment. All armed officers assigned to this contract are represented by a union.Compensation Type - AmountNew Hire Training Rate - $17.75/hourArmed Officer Base Pay - $27.00/hourHealth & Welfare Benefit - $4.70/hourTotal Hourly Compensation - $31.70/hourHealth & Welfare benefits are provided in accordance with applicable federal contract requirements.Eligible employees may receive:401(k) Retirement PlanMedical InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsurancePaid Time Off (Vacation)Paid Sick LeaveEmployee Referral ProgramBenefits eligibility may vary based on employment status and applicable contract requirements.Full-time and part-time opportunities are available. Schedules may vary based on contract requirements and staffing needs and may include: 8-hour shifts, 10-hour shifts, 12-hour shifts, Day shifts, Monday through Friday schedules. Officers assigned to this contract generally do not work nights, weekends, or federal holidays.Federal facilities located throughout: Waco, Texas, Temple, Texas, Surrounding service areas. Work is performed on-site at designated federal facilities.Officers assigned to this contract are represented by a collective bargaining agreement.
