Armed Security Officer - Toledo, OhioMeritus Solutions Group (Meritus) is seeking professional Armed Security Officers to support federal facilities and government operations throughout the Toledo, Ohio area and surrounding locations.This is a part-time position only. Full-time positions are not currently available. As full-time opportunities become available, eligible employees may bid on available shifts in accordance with applicable union rules and contract requirements.This role is ideal for individuals with flexible schedules who can support operational staffing needs across multiple sites. Part-time officers primarily provide coverage for full-time personnel who are on vacation, sick leave, or otherwise unavailable.Assigned work locations may include Toledo and surrounding areas such as Lima, Defiance, Sandusky, Bowling Green, and other nearby federal sites as operational needs require.All applicants must submit a current resume for consideration.Position SummaryFPS Protective Security Officers (PSOs) are responsible for maintaining the safety and security of federal facilities, personnel, visitors, and government property.Primary responsibilities include:Access control and visitor screeningInterior and exterior security patrolsMonitoring facilities and surrounding areasEmergency response and incident managementSecurity inspections and perimeter checksMaintaining accurate written reportsEnforcing federal security procedures and post ordersThis position requires professionalism, flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate within a highly structured federal security environment.Minimum QualificationsApplicants must:Be a U.S. CitizenPossess a valid Social Security cardBe at least 21 years of agePossess a High School Diploma or GEDHave one of the following: Minimum two (2) years of security experience; ORPrior military experience; ORPrior law enforcement experienceSuccessfully pass a comprehensive federal background investigationHave no felony convictions or domestic violence-related offensesBe able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluentlyBe capable of preparing accurate written reportsSuccessfully pass: Medical evaluationDrug screeningNote: Federal background investigations may require up to approximately three months to complete.Company assistance will be provided during the federal clearance process.Required CertificationsApplicants must possess:Active Ohio OPOTA Armed Security License (Required)Valid Driver's LicenseCPR / First Aid / AED certificationImportant: Applicants without an active OPOTA certification will not be considered.Training RequirementsAll officers must successfully complete required company and government training prior to independently standing post.Required training includes:One (1) week classroom instructionOne (1) week weapons/range trainingTwo (2) days of x-ray/screening trainingAdditional Training Information:Training is paidNew hires receive training payTraining is conducted in Columbus, OhioApplicants must be available for in-person training requirementsAll uniforms, duty gear, weapons, ammunition, OC spray, and equipment are company providedCompensationCompensation Type - AmountBase Pay - $30.76/hourHealth & Welfare Benefit - $5.30/hourTotal Compensation - $36.06/hourBenefitsMeritus offers a benefits and rewards package that may include:401(k) Retirement PlanHealth Insurance (Full-time employees only)Paid Time OffReferral ProgramBenefits eligibility may vary based on employment status and contract requirements.Work ScheduleAll employees hired into this position begin in a part-time status.Potential schedules may include:Day shiftsEvening shiftsNight shiftsWeekdaysWeekendsHolidaysOvertime assignments as operational needs requirePart-time employees may become eligible to bid on full-time positions if and when those positions become available under contract and union guidelines.Work LocationsWork locations may include:Toledo, OhioLima, OhioDefiance, OhioSandusky, OhioBowling Green, OhioAdditional surrounding federal facilities as neededThis is an on-site position.
