Applied AI Engineer | LLMs, AI Agents & Production Systems
Location: New York City | Working model: Hybrid
We're partnering with a profitable, high-growth AI software company building intelligent systems that transform how organisations conduct research, analyse information and make decisions.
Its platform combines frontier LLMs, proprietary data and agentic workflows to automate complex research and analysis for leading organisations across financial services and consulting.
The company is looking for an Applied AI Engineer to take AI systems from experimentation through to production. You'll build and improve LLM-powered applications, AI agents and evaluation frameworks, working closely with engineering, product and customer-facing teams.
This is a hands-on opportunity to solve challenging AI problems, experiment with new approaches and influence product direction.
What you'll work on
* LLM engineering: Build production applications using frontier models, APIs and model orchestration.
* AI agents: Develop systems that use tools, gather information and execute multi-step workflows.
* Evaluation: Build testing frameworks and feedback loops to improve AI quality and reliability.
* Retrieval: Develop RAG, embeddings and information extraction systems.
* Optimisation: Experiment with prompts, models and architectures to improve performance, latency and cost.
* Production systems: Build reliable AI services with robust monitoring and observability.
What we're looking for
* Proven experience shipping LLM-powered applications into production.
* Strong Python and backend engineering skills.
* Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering and model orchestration.
* Knowledge of AI agents, tool calling, RAG or workflow automation.
* Experience with evaluation, testing and improving AI system performance.
* A product mindset, strong communication skills and a bias towards action.
* Experience with voice AI, transcription, multimodal models or self-improving AI systems is a plus.
