ASCP - Medical Laboratory Scientist - MLS / CLS

Garland, TX $71,211 - $102,333 a year

Full Time

Explore the Depths of Diagnostic Science: Join an Invigorating Lab Team Close to Nature's Wonders

We are in search of a passionate Medical Laboratory Scientist who thrives on curiosity and accuracy. This full-time position awaits you at a vibrant community hospital nestled in a picturesque lakeside area, where every sample you analyze contributes to transforming patient outcomes. Experience a supportive work environment surrounded by dedicated colleagues and buoyed by a comprehensive benefits package that nurtures both your professional and personal growth.

Your Role in the Lab

Conduct routine and complex clinical laboratory tests across various disciplines—such as chemistry, hematology, and immunology—following established protocols meticulously.

Validate results, identify inconsistencies, troubleshoot issues, and ensure lab instruments are routinely maintained and calibrated.

Participate in specimen collection and, as necessary, prepare samples for accurate testing.

Keep detailed documentation of all procedures, assist in training new employees, and play a pivotal role in maintaining lab quality standards.

Foster a safe and clean environment while upholding all regulatory guidelines and accreditation requirements.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Clinical or Medical Laboratory Science or a related allied health degree, including ASCP/AMT certification preparations.

Certifications

ASCP or AMT certification in Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) required within one year of hire.

Ongoing maintenance of certification throughout employment is essential.

Skills

Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams.

Adept at exercising independent judgment and problem-solving under pressure.

Exceptional organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail, particularly regarding quality control measures and documentation accuracy.

Benefits

Attractive hourly compensation reflective of experience and qualifications.

Comprehensive benefits package: medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage.

Generous paid time off starting from your first day, along with vacation and holiday time that rewards experienced hires.

Opportunities for continuing education and professional development support.

A robust total rewards structure focused on holistic wellness and personal fulfillment.

Numbers that Transform Lives

Your work with a microscope significantly influences doctors' decisions and ultimately affects patient lives. One test could determine an infection requiring antibiotics, while another could uncover metabolic issues before symptoms manifest. Your expertise fosters trust—trust that doctors, nurses, and patients depend on every day.

Team Spirit and Growth

This position is more than just a job; it's about becoming part of a tight-knit community. You'll engage in ongoing team meetings, skill refreshers, and continuous improvement initiatives that cultivate an environment where each idea is valued. Immerse yourself in committees, propose process enhancements, and even mentor new staff members—your contributions will truly matter.

Gateway to a Thriving Community

Imagine living in a vibrant lakeside locale dotted with charming parks and lively festivals, where the air is filled with the scent of fresh produce from local farmer's markets. Neighborhood bistros serve as communal meeting spots, and weekends may be spent paddleboarding at dawn or relishing live music performances at scenic venues. The warmth and openness of the local community foster connections, making the healthcare team feel like family.

Every day, you have access to unique boutiques, expansive nature trails, and cultural experiences that cater to all lifestyle preferences—from birdwatching enthusiasts to triathletes. With effortless commuting options into metro areas, enjoy an enviable work-life balance that larger urban settings can often overshadow. Affordable housing resonates well with your paycheck, allowing you to pursue your passions—be it scenic weekend trips, local sporting events, or cherished moments with loved ones.
