Job Summary

We are looking for an exceptional leader to join one of the largest aseptic services in the UK as our Aseptic Services Team Leader. This is a pivotal leadership role requiring an individual who can successfully combine operational excellence, workforce development, quality assurance and innovation to deliver a high-performing, patient-focused service.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide operational and professional leadership across two aseptic units and a specialist biotherapy service, supporting the delivery of approximately 80,000 aseptically prepared items each year. You will lead a large multidisciplinary workforce, drive service improvement, champion GMP compliance and help shape the future of aseptic services.

Working closely with senior colleagues across Pharmacy Preparative Services and MMPS you will play a key role in balancing workforce capability, service demand, productivity, quality and safety. You will support the continued growth of aseptic, clinical trials and biotherapy services while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and excellence.

We are seeking an experienced and inspiring leader who is passionate about developing people, building high-performing teams and delivering outstanding patient care. If you thrive in a complex operational environment, have significant aseptic experience and are committed to driving innovation and service excellence, we'd love to hear from you.

Why you should join our Team

Leeds Teaching Hospitals is one of the largest and busiest NHS Trusts in the country, offering a range of both general and specialist hospital services with excellent clinical outcomes for patients. We have an international reputation for excellence in specialist care, research and academic training.

We are also part of the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT), a collaborative of the NHS hospital trusts from across West Yorkshire and Harrogate working together to provide the best possible care for our patients.

The Pharmacy Department at LTHT is highly respected, forward thinking and recognised within the organisation for collaborative working.

Aseptics is well recognised across the Trust for providing a high quality service at the cutting edge of medicine preparation. We offer excellent career progression whilst working in a friendly and supportive team.

We are proud to say that we have created a positive working environment with a hardworking and dedicated workforce who feel valued and share a team goal to put the patients first.

What You Will Bring To The Role

A strong background working within Aseptic Services with a commitment to quality, patient safety and continuous improvement.

Proven leadership experience, with the ability to motivate, support and develop teams to deliver their best.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, enabling you to work effectively with colleagues across pharmacy, clinical services and the wider Trust.

Confidence in leading change and driving service improvements within a complex specialist environment.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions when managing operational challenges.

The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on operational leadership.

Excellent organisational skills, with experience of managing competing priorities and delivering results.

A proactive, adaptable approach and the resilience to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving service.

A genuine commitment to developing services, supporting colleagues and improving outcomes for patients.
