Respiratory Therapist
Join a dynamic healthcare team in the Pacific Northwest region, providing essential respiratory care services in a supportive and patient-focused environment. This part-time, PRN position offers the opportunity to deliver compassionate respiratory therapy to adult and geriatric patients under physician orders.
Job Summary
As a Respiratory Therapist, you will administer a variety of respiratory treatments including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, advanced airway management, arterial puncture and analysis, ECGs, and mechanical ventilation. You will plan, implement, and evaluate therapy effectiveness while collaborating closely with providers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide timely and compassionate respiratory care, assessing patient needs and interpreting test results to develop treatment plans.
Administer prescribed respiratory therapies and operate related equipment safely and effectively.
Monitor patient responses to therapy, adjusting treatments as necessary and documenting progress.
Lead and supervise respiratory therapy aides and technicians.
Participate in discharge planning and educate patients and caregivers on home respiratory care and equipment.
Contribute to departmental policy development, training programs, and workflow coordination.
Education and Experience
Associate degree from a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
Minimum of two years of acute care respiratory therapy experience.
Licenses and Certifications
Current unrestricted state Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) upon hire; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) within one year.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within six months of hire.
Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge of respiratory care theories and clinical skills.
Ability to assess and tailor treatments for patients across all age groups.
Proficiency with respiratory therapy equipment and technology, including electronic medical records.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with healthcare teams and patients.
Capacity to work independently, prioritize tasks, and exercise sound judgment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry varying weights, stand, walk, bend, and perform other physical activities as required in a clinical setting.
Work Environment
This role involves 12-hour shifts within a 40-hour workweek schedule, offering a balance of professional growth and personal well-being.
