With operations across the U.S. and globally, we are committed to safety, innovation, and quality while building products our customers depend on every day.Mechanical Assemblers Level 2 complete the final stages of assembly of the fire truck accessories and finishing touches. This position may also assist the electrical team with wiring of items such as lights.Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:Ability to perform all duties performed by Mechanical Assembler Level 1 and:Complete the overlay of the front and rear of body/cabInstall heatpansInstall brushed SST in hose bed and cap offPrep and install swing-out and roll-up doorsInstall the SCBA modulesInstall tire chainsInstall complex hose bed flor and dividersInstall exhaust systemsInstall Austin traysInstall rear cab overlaysFabricate all receiversSolve complex problems with minimal assistanceSelf-check work and inspect prior processesMeet production goalsMaintain a clean and safe work areaInitiate process improvements when ableWork in close proximity to customer, as neededOperate any equipment or tools needed to perform the jobAssist other team members and departments as neededOther duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent Ability to use basic hand and power tools Ability to read and use a tape measure to precise measurements Ability to work in a team environment Ability to maintain attendance within company guidelines Ability to retain and apply instructions Basic math skills; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division Positive attitude Work overtime on short notice Embrace change Basic computer skills Must be detailed orientated Ability to read and understand truck specification documents Ability to communicate and understand in English Ability to work within safety guidelines Must be self-motivated Must be able to work with little to no supervision after two weeks Ability to visualize tasks and determine appropriate action Ability to receive general instruction and complete tasksPhysical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The associate frequently is required to talk or hear. The associate is required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crawl over, under and around equipment. The associate is required to frequently work from a ladder or at heights up to 11 feet off the ground. May be exposed to vibration. The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds frequently, move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.Work EnvironmentGeneral production environment. The noise level ranges from moderate to loud occasionally. Environment may be warm or cool, depending on weather and other factors.ScheduleHours depend on business and department needs. All positions are subject to overtime as needed. Overtime can be scheduled by adding additional days to the scheduled days for the week or by extending the hours worked. See a supervisor for information on overtime worked in a particular department.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.
