Assembly Technician IPowering Manufacturing Excellence Through Skilled Assembly & Electrical Support!MEPPI's Switchgear Division (SWGD) is seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Assembly Technician I to support the assembly, testing, and shipment of switchgear products. In this role, you will perform mechanical assembly and basic electrical connection tasks while ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and production efficiency.This position is located in Warrendale, PA at: 512 Keystone Drive, Warrendale, PA 15086What You'll DoAssemble Switchgear Components: Assemble frames, bushings, and sub-assemblies for circuit breakers, parts orders, and related products according to company specifications, engineering drawings, and work orders.Perform Basic Electrical Connections: Complete basic electrical connections on products in accordance with wiring diagrams and company specifications.Prepare Products for Shipment: Perform ship-preparation activities including applying RTV sealant, touching up paint, wrapping breakers, bushings, and cabinets, and packaging products for shipment.Utilize Manufacturing Tools: Safely and effectively use a variety of hand and power tools to assemble components and finished products.Interpret Technical Documentation: Read and understand technical drawings, mechanical blueprints, and bills of material to ensure assembly accuracy and compliance.Inspect & Verify Quality: Inspect subassemblies and completed assemblies using specialized test equipment, visual inspections, and measurement devices. Identify and correct defects as required.Verify Materials & Processes: Confirm correct materials are used according to parts lists and specifications, and identify any process or material issues.Maintain Production Documentation: Complete process check sheets, production reports, and other required paperwork in accordance with company procedures.Support Department Excellence: Further the goals and professional image of SWGD through effective interaction with customers, vendors, and internal departments.Champion Safety & Compliance: Maintain knowledge of MEPPI's Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies and understand how they apply to daily work activities.Additional ResponsibilitiesMaintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and orderly manner.Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on assembly and testing tools and equipment as required.Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead cranes, and other material-handling equipment.Assist with on-the-job training of other employees as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.What You BringEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or GEDMinimum of 2 years of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceTechnical SkillsBasic understanding of computer applicationsDemonstrated mechanical aptitude through the effective use of hand and power toolsAbility to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and bills of materialRequired safety and operational training to operate equipment such as forklifts and cranesSkills & AttributesStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPhysical & Work RequirementsAbility to safely and correctly use hand tools, power tools, and measurement devicesAbility to read and understand technical drawings, mechanical blueprints, and bills of materialAbility to regularly lift up to 50 poundsAbility to inspect subassemblies and finished products for quality and conformanceAbility to read, write, and follow instructionsAbility to evaluate workmanship against established specifications and standardsAbility to operate powered equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranesAbility to climb and work up to 10 feet above ground level for extended periodsAbility to stand, sit, crawl, squat, kneel, twist, bend, and reach overhead as requiredAbility to work primarily in an indoor manufacturing environment and occasionally outdoors as neededWhat's in It for You?Comprehensive Health Coverage: MEPPI pays 90% of the cost for medical, dental, and vision plansRetirement Plans: 401(k) with company match up to 4%Generous Paid Time Off: Vacation eligibility after 90 days, plus 12 paid holidays annuallyCareer Development: Technical training, advancement opportunities, and educational assistanceExclusive Employee Perks: Profit sharing, free access to our 24/7 fitness center in Warrendale, PA, and participation in MEPPI's Wellness ProgramWhy MEPPIAt MEPPI, our Assembly Technicians play a critical role in building the high-quality switchgear products that power essential infrastructure throughout North America.
