Job description
Assembly TechnicianThe Assembly Technician performs maintenance, repair, assembly, and build-up of aircraft landing gear and landing gear components in accordance with approved technical data and engineering orders. This role involves detailed mechanical work, testing at multiple stages, and precise documentation to support safe and reliable operation of Boeing MD-80/DC-9, Boeing 7-Series, and Goodrich Q-400/CRJ landing gear systems.ResponsibilitiesReceive incoming components and perform preliminary inspections to verify condition and compliance with requirements.Conduct pre-disassembly testing to assess functionality and identify defects or required repairs.Disassemble landing gear and related components following approved manufacturers technical data and air carrier engineering orders.Clean parts and assemblies thoroughly to prepare them for inspection, repair, and reassembly.Perform minor inspections on parts and assemblies to detect wear, damage, or nonconformities.Carry out repairs and treatment of parts in accordance with OEM Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), Overhaul Manuals (OHM), and engineering instructions.Requisition required parts and materials needed to complete maintenance, repair, and assembly work.Perform pre-assembly testing to ensure parts and sub-assemblies meet specifications and are ready for final build-up.Conduct sub-assembly testing to verify proper operation and fit before integration into the main assembly.Assemble and build up Boeing MD-80/DC-9, Boeing 7-Series, and Goodrich Q-400/CRJ landing gear and landing gear components using diagrams, specifications, bills of materials, OEM CMM/OHM, work order/traveler instructions, and customer requirements.Use appropriate hand and electrical tools to perform mechanical assembly, disassembly, and adjustments safely and accurately.Execute and complete documentation for each phase of maintenance performed, ensuring traceability and compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.Follow all established procedures, quality standards, and safety guidelines throughout the maintenance and assembly process.Essential SkillsMinimum of 2 years of relevant assembly and/or maintenance experience.Proficiency in using a variety of hand tools and electrical tools for mechanical assembly and repair.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, and specification manuals.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in following technical instructions and diagrams.High school diploma or equivalent.Additional Skills & QualificationsVocational or trade school education in a related mechanical or technical field.Previous experience in an aviation parts manufacturing and/or maintenance environment.A&P License or FAA Repairman license.Familiarity with OEM Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM) and Overhaul Manuals (OHM).Experience working with landing gear or complex mechanical assemblies.Why Work Here?Join a technically focused environment where precision, safety, and quality are highly valued. The environment is hands-on and tool-intensive, involving regular use of hand and electrical tools, mechanical equipment, and technical documentation. Work hours and shifts are typically aligned with standard production and maintenance schedules, with an emphasis on adherence to safety procedures, quality standards, and organized workstations suitable for precision mechanical tasks.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Valencia, CA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $29.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
