Job description
The Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body and is currently recruiting outstanding faculty with an interest in academia in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology.
The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is ranked number 1 in research and teaching among global universities, and ranked number 28 in clinical care by the US World News. Faculty are encouraged to get involved in various sub-sections within the division and engage in active learning and will be provided and expected to participate in divisional and departmental activities and demonstrate engagement.
Clinical and teaching responsibilities will be in the areas of Hepatology, Transplant Hepatology and Endoscopy. The successful candidates will interact with a wide range of clinical, translational and/or basic science programs on liver diseases and transplant hepatology. This will include quality improvement projects, collaboration with funded investigators, publication of clinical case reports or reviews, or development of curricular or teaching materials.
Candidates with a research interest in the area of clinical or laboratory based research in liver diseases are preferred.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience.

Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.

Candidates must have a MD or equivalent, MD/PhD or PhD in health-related fields.
Candidates with a MD or equivalent must be board certified or eligible in Gastroenterology.
Candidates with a MD or equivalent must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
