Job description

The Tufts University School of Medicine's Department of Rehabilitation Sciences invites applications for a full-time, 12-month non-tenured faculty appointment for Tufts University's hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program - Boston. This opening reflects an exciting moment in our program's evolution: as Tufts DPT continues to expand, we are actively building and strengthening our Boston faculty team. The faculty member will join an established, collaborative program with a strong foundation in hybrid education, a cohesive faculty culture, and a shared commitment to innovation and student success.

This seven-semester DPT program is a blend of online and on-campus activities, which allows the faculty member to live remote to the campus. However, DPT faculty members must be able to travel and stay in the Boston area for designated time periods each semester. Successful candidates are expected to enhance current teaching, scholarship, service, and mentoring activities within the DPT program.

Tufts University is committed to anti-racism and a culture of inclusion. Candidates who are dedicated to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment are particularly encouraged to apply.

Teaching and Education Responsibilities: Teach courses as agreed upon with the Program Director, DPT Program.

We seek collegial individuals who either have a terminal academic doctorate in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities (Ph.D., Ed.D., etc.), or a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (or tDPT) with American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) or certification credentials appropriate for their teaching responsibilities. Candidates with qualifications in all areas of physical therapy practice and DPT curricula will be considered, but preference will be given to individuals with clinical expertise and teaching experience in acute care and/or cardiopulmonary practice. Rank will be commensurate with experience, but all positions in Tufts DPT are non-tenure.

The ideal candidates should possess excellent communication skills and strong technology skills to meet the needs of our hybrid educational instructional format. We desire team-oriented colleagues with experience teaching in a DPT program who are willing and able to collaborate on instructional methods, student-learning activities, and scholarly pursuits.
