Assistant/Associate Professor – Nursing
Position Overview
The School of Nursing, within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina A&T State University, is seeking an assistant/associate professor whose teaching and scholarly research agenda is focused on community health. The primary purpose of this role is to provide student-centered teaching and clinical instruction of undergraduate and graduate-level courses. Faculty in this role will provide student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, and engagement in program assessment and accreditation-related procedures.
Responsibilities
Establish and sustain a strong externally-funded research program in the candidate’s field of expertise.
Produce an excellent record of scholarly publications.
Incorporate modern pedagogical skills in teaching nursing courses to undergraduate and graduate students.
Supervise and support undergraduate and graduate student projects.
Provide service to the School of Nursing, the college and university, as well as to appropriate community and professional organizations.
Minimum Requirements
A minimum of a PhD in nursing.
Evidence of research leading to establishment and sustaining a strong research enterprise, and pedagogical skills to teach in areas relevant to nursing leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior teaching experience in baccalaureate and/or graduate nursing programs or credentials to meet the North Carolina Board of Nursing’s educational requirement is required.
Three years of clinical experience related to the concepts and theories essential in providing nursing care.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting and enhancing inclusiveness, collaboration, and diversity in alignment with the university’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing a diverse environment.
Required License or Certification
Must hold a current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in North Carolina or have eligibility to obtain a North Carolina Registered Nurse License if candidate is an advanced practice nurse. Must hold national certification.
Work Arrangement
On‑site. Employees are primarily in the office and/or have a critical job requirement that requires dedicated office space on‑site.
