Job description
Assistant Building OfficialThe Town of Wethersfield is accepting applications for a full-time Assistant Building Official. Reporting directly to the Chief Building Official, this position supports the administration and enforcement of the State Building Code and municipal regulations through inspections, reviews, and compliance activities.Examples Of Specific Duties:Plans and organizes work according to department procedures.Analyzes and evaluates building plans, including design, materials, construction methods and health and safety measures.Makes field inspections of construction work in progress to assure conformity with code and regulations.Confers with and interprets codes provisions and application procedures to architects, engineers, contractors and members of the public.Investigates complaints of building code violations, Enforces building code regulations.Assists the Chief Building Official in inspection and review of major construction projects.Provides normal and off hour emergency assistance as needed.Minimum Qualifications:Certification as an Assistant Building Official under Section 29-262 of the Connecticut General StatutesPossession of a Class III Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operators LicensePreferred Qualification:Graduation from a Vocational Technical School orCompletion of apprenticeship training in a construction trade skill and three (3) years of experience in the construction trades.For a complete list of responsibilities, please review the full job description.
