Assistant, CirculationSupervises stack maintenance activities, assuring that all materials are shelved quickly and correctlyCoordinates and supervises the shifting of the collection when neededIdentifies and removes books to be mended, repaired or replacedAssists in the supervision and training of student assistantsCharges out and checks in library materialsShelves books and materialsWorks closely with the Circulation staff to set up, control and maintain an orderly Reserve Book CollectionSupervises the Circulation Department in the absence of the Circulation Librarian or Circulation CoordinatorWorks at Circulation Desk on rotational nights and weekendsOther related duties, as assignedQualificationsMinimum Education - Bachelor's degree in Office Management, Business or related areaMinimum Experience - One (1) year of Public Service experienceKnowledge Skills and AbilitiesGeneral knowledge of library policies, procedures and techniquesKnowledge of office practices and proceduresAbility to use MS Office Products, including Outlook, PowerPoint and ExcelEffective communication skills, verbal, written and interpersonalAbility to work independently in the absence of direct supervisionAbility to plan, schedule and organize workAbility to effectively handle multiple tasks concurrentlyEEO StatementAlcorn State University is expressly committed to providing equal employment opportunities without regard to race, color, national or ethnic origin, ancestry age, religion or religious creed, disability or handicap, sex or gender identity and/or expressions, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state or local law.
