We are committed to consistently delivering value-adding services, and we do this through our greatest asset: our employees.Overview:The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management across multiple operating entities. This role blends technical accounting leadership with operational finance partnership and plays a critical role in ensuring accurate reporting, disciplined planning, and financial visibility across the business. As Assistant Controller, you’ll gain end-to-end exposure to how financial decisions impact operations, profitability, and growth—while helping build scalable processes in a growing logistics platform.Responsibilities:Financial Reporting & CloseSupport oversight of general ledger accuracy across multiple legal entitiesLead preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and year-end journal entriesPrepare and review combined financial statements, including intercompany allocations and reconciliationsOversee balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely issue resolutionAssist in managing and improving the month-end close process, timelines, and controlsBudgeting, Forecasting & Financial PlanningSupport the annual budgeting process across operating entitiesAssist in preparing monthly and quarterly forecasts, including variance analysisPartner with operations and leadership to understand volume, cost drivers, and margin impactsMonitor budget vs. actual performance and provide actionable insightsSupport long-range planning and scenario analysis as the business scalesCash Management & Working CapitalAssist with cash flow forecasting and liquidity planningMonitor AR, AP, and working capital trends in partnership with billing and operationsSupport banking relationships, covenant reporting, and lender requests as applicableIdentify opportunities to improve cash conversion and financial disciplineControls, Compliance & AuditAssist the Controller in maintaining and strengthening internal controls and accounting policiesEnsure GAAP compliance and consistency across entitiesServe as a key contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and consultantsSupport annual audits, tax filings, and financial reviewsLeadership & Process ImprovementReview work prepared by accounting staff; provide guidance and coachingHelp modernize accounting processes, documentation, and reportingSupport ERP optimization, reporting enhancements, and automation initiativesAct as a backup to the Controller and assume increased responsibility as neededQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance7–10+ years of progressive accounting experienceStrong working knowledge of GAAPDemonstrated experience with multi-entity accounting and combined financial statementsExperience supporting close, audits, and financial reporting in dynamic work environmentsExposure to budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysisAdvanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations, large datasets)Strong communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionallyAbility to manage priorities in a fast-paced, operational environmentERP experience (NetSuite, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks Enterprise, or similar)CPA or CPA-eligible strongly preferredExperience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, or outsourced services a plusEqual Employment OpportunityOn-Target is an equal employment opportunity provider.
