Job Description:

Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Reynolds is committed to hiring and retaining a racially diverse, culturally competent staff at all levels of the organization who reflect the demographics of our students. We also believe in providing an ongoing investment in our faculty and staff to deepen their skills and competencies to serve the full range of our student population.

Reynolds Community College is seeking a dynamic and student-focused professional to serve as the Assistant Director of Academic Advising & Transfer Services. The Assistant Director serves as the operational lead for advising delivery at the Parham Road and Kitchens campuses, ensuring effective staffing, service coverage, and workflow execution across all advising functions. Demonstrated knowledge of academic advising practices, student development theory, and higher education student support models

Understanding of transfer processes, curricular pathways, and enrollment services operations

Ability to accurately interpret and apply institutional policies, academic requirements, and student success strategies

Proven leadership and supervisory experience, including managing daily operations and overseeing staff performance

Experience coordinating staff training, development, and fostering a collaborative, accountable team environment

Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, Student Affairs, and Academic Affairs partners

Proficiency in student success technologies (e.g., EAB Navigate or similar systems), including outreach campaigns, early alerts, and appointment management

Experience using data and technology to inform decision-making, improve service delivery, and support student retention and completion goals

Strong communication skills, cultural competency, sound judgment, and a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and professional development

Additional Considerations:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with coursework in counseling, student affairs, higher education, or a related field.

Progressive experience working with a variety of individuals in an advisory or counseling capacity; and experience working in a college environment with EAB Navigate.
