Assistant Field SupervisorSouthern Mechanical is looking for a skilled and dependable Assistant Field Supervisor. This office position supports experienced field supervisors in the installation, maintenance, repair, and servicing of mechanical systems and equipment. This position is intended for an employee who has developed foundational trade skills and is progressing toward full journeyman-level responsibilities.The Assistant field supervisor under appropriate supervision while gaining hands-on experience, improving technical skills, and learning Southern Mechanical's safety, quality, and operating procedures.Benefits include $30-35 per hour, depending on experience, medical, dental, and vision insurance, company-paid basic life insurance, short-term & long-term disability, 401(k) retirement plan, paid holidays, paid time off (PTO), professional development & career growth opportunities.What You'll Do:Assist office staff with submittals, equipment procurement, mechanical installations, repairs, maintenance, and troubleshootingRead and interpret plans, drawings, specifications, and equipment documentationSafely use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and other trade-related equipmentAssist with installation and servicing of mechanical systems and componentsPerform basic measurements, inspections, adjustments, and testing under supervisionMaintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in an organized and safe conditionFollow company safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and applicable trade standardsAssist with material handling, staging, and preparation of job sitesIdentify potential equipment or installation issues and communicate them to the supervising journeyman or supervisorComplete required documentation, work orders, time records, and service reportsMaintain professional conduct when interacting with customers, coworkers, contractors, and supervisorsPerform other duties related to the position as assignedWhat You'll Bring:Previous mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, piping, or related trade experience preferredBasic understanding of mechanical systems and construction practicesAbility to use common hand and power tools safelyAbility to read basic drawings, measurements, and written instructionsWillingness to learn and develop toward journeyman-level proficiencyAbility to work safely in construction, commercial, industrial, or service environmentsValid driver's license if required for assigned field dutiesAbility to work independently when assigned tasks are within the employee's training and authorizationPhysical Requirements:Standing and walking for extended periodsLifting and carrying tools and materialsBending, kneeling, climbing, and working in confined or elevated areasWorking indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditionsWearing required personal protective equipmentWorking with our Company:Founded in 1992, Southern Mechanical is an operated company headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee.
