Assistant General Manager – Marriott Select Service Hotel

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Assistant General Manager to support the daily operations of a Marriott Select Service hotel.
The AGM works closely with the General Manager to ensure strong operational performance, exceptional guest service, effective team leadership, and compliance with Marriott brand standards and company policies. This position requires a visible leader who is comfortable working throughout the hotel, resolving guest and operational issues, coaching employees, and holding departments accountable for results.
Key Responsibilities
Support the General Manager in overseeing all day-to-day hotel operations.
Provide direct operational leadership to Front Office, Housekeeping, and other hotel departments as assigned.
Maintain a strong presence throughout the hotel and ensure consistent execution of service and operational standards.
Monitor guest satisfaction and respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns.
Support Marriott brand standards and readiness for brand inspections and quality assurance reviews.
Review guest feedback and service scores and assist in developing corrective action plans when needed.
Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, coaching, performance management, and employee relations.
Ensure appropriate staffing levels and assist department leaders with scheduling and labor management.
Monitor payroll, overtime, productivity, and departmental expenses.
Conduct regular property inspections to ensure guest rooms, public areas, exterior areas, and back-of-house spaces meet cleanliness and maintenance standards.
Work closely with Housekeeping and Maintenance to address room deficiencies and out-of-order rooms quickly.
Support hotel revenue and profitability goals by controlling expenses and identifying operational efficiencies.
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, emergency protocols, and applicable employment requirements.
Serve as Manager on Duty and provide leadership in the General Manager's absence.
Participate in weekend, evening, and holiday coverage as required by hotel operations.
Qualifications
Minimum 2–3 years of hotel management or supervisory experience required.
Previous Marriott Select Service experience strongly preferred.
Experience in Front Office, Rooms Operations, or Assistant General Manager responsibilities preferred.
Strong knowledge of hotel operations, guest service, housekeeping standards, and labor management.
Experience with Marriott systems and brand standards preferred.
Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to coach employees and hold team members accountable while maintaining a professional work environment.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on hotel environment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays based on business needs.
