Job description
Assistant Mill OperatorWe are seeking dependable and safety-focused individuals for the role of Assistant Machine/Mill Operator in a fast-paced production environment. This position supports the Machine Operator II in daily operations and may take on supervisory duties in their absence. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Essential ResponsibilitiesMaintain high sanitation standards in assigned work areasOperate and maintain production equipment as neededLoad/unload tandem trucks at elevator and storage sitesAssist in training team members and learning Operator II dutiesMonitor grain handling equipment and storage site bin levelsBag sunflower products in 25–50 lb. bags on a continuous basisOperate forklifts safely and efficientlyComplete required paperwork accurately and on timeUphold personal and environmental safety standardsCommunicate clearly across departments and managementPerform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Operator IISkills & QualificationsRequired:High School Diploma or GEDExperience in a manufacturing or food production environmentBasic math and computer skillsForklift operation experienceAbility to follow written/verbal instructions and safety proceduresStrong communication and teamwork abilitiesPhysically able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and work in dusty, non-climate-controlled areasPreferred:2+ years in an ag or food manufacturing settingFamiliarity with:Color sortersGravity tablesDestonersElectronic scalesPackage filling & sewing equipmentTandem truck operationWork Environment & Physical DemandsThis is a hands-on, physical role. Candidates must be able to:Lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedlyPerform frequent bending, twisting, and arm movementsClimb stairs/ladders and stand for extended periodsWork in environments with dust and without air conditioning or heating
