Major/Essential Functions:
Provides patient care in the area of colon and rectal care and consultation in an academic medical center in hospital and outpatient settings
Instructs and supervises medical students and surgery residents
Performs colon and rectal procedures
Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship
Provides on-call coverage, as scheduled
Serves the academic community through participations in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties
Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complimentary to the institutional mission
Ensures compliance and HIPAA and billing regulations
Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Statement of Faculty Professional Responsibility
Upholds and promotes the values-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso
Required Qualifications:
M.D or D.O. degree
Successful completion of ACGME-accredited genera! surgery residency program
Successful completion of ACGME-accredited colon and rectal surgery fellowship program
Texas Medical License, or eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Texas
Preferred Qualifications:
Board Certification in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery
Board Certification in Colon and Rectal Surgery by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery
Experience in teaching students and residents
Experience in conducting research and publishing scientific reports
Emerging or established regional or national reputation for the rank of associate professor
