Position Summary:

ENMU-Roswell, a Hispanic-Serving Institution, seeks a vibrant, Tenure-Track (10-month) Assistant Professor of English to join our faculty. Applicants with experience teaching first year composition and rhetoric; who have experience with second language learners whose primary language is Spanish; and who have writing center and/or tutorial experience are especially encouraged to apply.

The selected candidate will engage a diverse student population in a range of courses including composition, literature, and professional writing.

At ENMU-Roswell, our classrooms are a delightful mix of ambitions where traditional transfer-bound students work alongside aspiring nurses, future welders, adult learners returning to rewrite their next chapter, and first-generation trailblazers. Nearly every student enrolls in one of our English courses, which are part of the University's liberal arts core.

Located in the heart of Southeast New Mexico, Roswell offers the perfect balance of small-town charm and outdoor adventure. With 50,000 residents, Roswell is a family-friendly community just an hour from mountain hiking and skiing and a short drive to the metropolitan hubs of Albuquerque and Lubbock.

ENMU-Roswell is a dedicated two-year technical and community college. Teaching is the heartbeat of our campus. We are seeking a faculty member who takes pride in the full instructional cycle-from imaginative course design to active student assessment in both face-to-face and virtual classrooms.

The new position commences January 2027.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Effectively prepare, facilitate, teach, grade, and assess student learning in assigned courses.

Create and maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment for a diverse student population, including individuals with disabilities or special learning needs.

Emphasize student progress and retention through active and collaborative learning strategies, regular office hours, institutional service, community involvement, and ongoing professional development.

Structure classes and curriculum to align with established program and course outcomes.

Assist students with academic advising, registration, and graduation processes.

Deliver instruction through multiple modalities, including face-to-face, learning management systems (LMS), and other innovative technology-based platforms.

Attend in-service sessions, departmental and campus meetings, commencement ceremonies, and convocation events as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Master's degree in English or Writing, or a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Writing. Official or unofficial transcripts should be included with the application as required.

Two years of teaching experience at the secondary or post-secondary level.

Willingness to teach in face-to-face, virtual, and hybrid instructional formats.

Preferred:

Two years of teaching experience at a community college.

Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and/or certification in ESL or TESOL.

Experience teaching or working at a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI).

Experience working with diverse student populations.
