FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

\"At Baruch College we believe that student success is everyone’s responsibility\"

The Zicklin School of Business of Baruch College/CUNY invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in the Department of Law at the Assistant Professor level, with a focus on environmental law and sustainability. The Department of Law offers courses to undergraduate and graduate business students in a wide variety of business subjects, including Introduction to Business Law, Business Organizations, and an array of upper-level specialty courses, including Law, Business and Sustainability, Environmental Law, Financial Technology (Fintech), Financial Regulation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Immigration Law and Law and Legal Theory. The Zicklin School of Business is accredited by AACSB International, and is among the largest schools of business in the U.S.

Baruch College is located in Manhattan’s historic Gramercy/Flatiron district between Midtown and Wall Street and offers significant professional opportunities to interact with the legal, banking and finance, technology, and government sectors. The Zicklin School of Business is New York City’s premier public business school, with an international reputation for excellence in offering nationally-ranked programs, including BBA and MBA (both of which have required and/or elective law courses), specialized MS degrees, and executive programs (including the Executive MBA in Healthcare Administration and a Masters-level concentration in the regulation of financial technology in which the Department of Law faculty teach). Baruch College and The Zicklin School of Business are committed to excellence in research and teaching, and Department of Law faculty publish in top law reviews, attend conferences and share their research regularly.

Faculty members are expected to conduct high-quality scholarship and publish their work in prestigious law reviews. Faculty will teach a variety of introductory and advanced business law courses, including courses in Law, Business and Sustainability, and Environmental Law. Other job responsibilities include new course development and service to the Department, School, and College. Applicants should be able to teach in multiple modalities (in-person, online, hybrid) and participate in Zicklin programs offered both on campus and with our global partners. Faculty will join a vibrant, research and teaching focused faculty and work in a supportive, collegial atmosphere.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have a JD degree or a terminal law degree from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school or be admitted to practice law in the United States and have an excellent academic record. Candidates should have a record of scholarly publication, a rigorous research agenda and be committed to teaching business law at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Department of Law strongly prefers candidates with expertise in environmental law, law and sustainability, ESG (environmental, social, and governance) regulation, climate law, or related areas of environmental law and sustainability.

COMPENSATION

$135,000–$150,000; Compensation and teaching responsibilities will be competitive and commensurate with rank.

CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs. We also provide mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication as part of our commitment to ongoing faculty professional development.

Applicants should include a CV, a research statement, and a statement of teaching philosophy that includes, but is not limited to their commitment to and experience with teaching students in a campus environment with a substantial population of students who are among the first-generation of their family to attend a college or university.

Candidates invited for an interview will also be required to submit CUNY Application Part 1 and names and contact information for three (3) references prior to the interview.

To ensure full consideration, applications must be submitted by October 1, 2026. Please note that documents submitted by e-mail are not a substitute for a CUNY online application — all applications must be submitted via the central CUNY application system.
