Job description
Assistant Professor Of Geography
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Geography in the Department of Geography and Anthropology with a preferred start date of August 2027. This is a nine-month contracted position and is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Teach in alignment with department and program needs including: (1) developing and teaching general education courses, lower and upper-level undergraduate courses and/or graduate courses related to geography and sustainability, and (2) mentoring students in the candidate's field(s) of research and in career readiness. KSU uses a differentiated workload model. The standard teaching load is 3/3. Teach courses of various sizes including large class sizes; in various modalities; on the Kennesaw and/or Marietta campuses. Develop and advance scholarship in their area of expertise(s). Develop and maintain an active research program including the pursuit of external funding. Service to the degree programs, department, college, university, and professional community is also expected. Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
An earned Terminal/Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Geography or closely related discipline is required at the time of hire. Evidence of expertise, demonstrated through published and/or presented scholarship, in the fields of sustainability and environmental geography (e.g., sustainable development, environmental studies, environmental sustainability, urban sustainability, natural disasters, climate change, water resources, environmental health, and environmental pollution).
Evidence of experience in and/or ability to teach lower-division/general education courses and upper-division and advanced courses in geography, sustainability, environmental geography. Evidence of experience and/or the ability to teach online, hybrid, in-person, large section courses. Demonstrated experience engaging in collaborative scholarship with faculty and/or students that reinforces a robust curriculum. Demonstrated experience mentoring and conducting research with undergraduates. Demonstrated experience applying for and/or working on grants.
