Job description
Overview
Position title: Assistant Professor of History of Medicine and Health. Tenure-track, regular faculty appointment in the History Department. This is a full-time position with remote and hybrid options for applicants based in eligible states.
Responsibilities
Teach three undergraduate courses per semester, including HS 100: Encountering the Past, a core course taken by all Loyola students.
Offer courses in the history of health and medicine, in the instructor’s geographic and temporal area of expertise, and potentially in the university’s Honors program.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, scholarship, and service, contributing to the Jesuit educational mission.
Engage with department programs and advise or contribute to majors and minors related to health, environment, global studies, gender studies, forensic studies, and related programs as needed.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in hand by July 2027.
Teaching experience required.
Ability to contribute to undergraduate teaching, research, and service and to Loyola’s mission.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $73,500 – $76,000. Benefits include health, vision, and dental insurance; retirement contributions; tuition remission for employees and dependents; and eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). Final compensation is determined by factors including experience, internal equity, and budget considerations.
