Responsibilities
The AVP-Project Accounting delivers software capitalization guidance and financial governance across Moody's product investment portfolio.
Provide technical accounting judgment on software capitalization, including unit-of-account, capitalization boundaries, and asset structuring under US GAAP, and consistently apply these principles across product lines, geographies, and delivery models

Translate product roadmaps and initiatives into clear project and investment structures that support governance, capitalization assessment, and downstream financial reporting
Implement playbooks, frameworks, and decision guidelines aligned with product strategy initiatives and financial principles; identify early signals of strategic drift, scope creep, or potential impairment
Develop and enhance decision-useful reporting relating to both capitalized projects and R&D, translating initiative-level activity into portfolio-level insights for leadership and supporting end-to-end process review between capitalization and R&D data collection and reporting
Support implementation of the new software capitalization accounting standard, advising business stakeholders on financial and operational implications
Support product leadership in distinguishing durable asset creation from exploratory work and manage handoffs to downstream accounting and reporting teams
Help build and develop a high-performing project accounting team, serving as a key point of contact for project accounting and capitalized software advisory matters
