About Us
Joe Cunningham Law is a fast-growing personal injury firm in Charleston. We're a small, hard-working team, and we're looking for an early-career attorney who wants to help build something, not just fill a seat. You'll work directly with firm leadership, have a voice in firm policies, and take real ownership of clients and cases from day one.
The Role
You'll manage personal injury cases from intake through resolution, working closely with our attorneys and case management team. Prior PI experience is a plus but not required. We'll train the right person.
What You'll Do
Manage a caseload of personal injury matters from initial evaluation through settlement or litigation
Keep clients informed and help them understand their options and case status
Evaluate liability, damages, insurance coverage, and evidence, including medical records, bills, wage-loss documentation, photos, and police reports
Research and apply South Carolina law to case-specific issues
Draft demand letters, pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and settlement documents
Negotiate settlements with insurance companies and defense counsel
Support trial preparation, and take the lead on depositions, mediations, and hearings as your experience grows
Manage cases in Filevine and new leads in LeadDocket
Help improve our processes as the firm scales
What You Bring
J.D. from an accredited law school
Licensed in South Carolina, or eligible for SC admission
1–5 years of legal experience
Strong research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
Excellent organization and attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple cases and deadlines
Comfort communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and insurance adjusters
Eagerness to learn and take on increasing responsibility in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have
Personal injury experience
Westlaw or LexisNexis proficiency
Experience with Filevine, LeadDocket, or similar systems (training provided)
What We Offer
Competitive salary based on experience, plus commission
Paid time off
Hands-on personal injury litigation experience
Direct mentorship from firm leadership
Training and support for early-career attorneys
Real room to grow as the firm expands
Who We're Looking For
Someone smart, hungry, dependable, and willing to work hard, who cares deeply about injured clients and wants to grow with us. If that's you, we'd love to hear from you.
