Job description
The Associate Counsel serves the New York State Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control under the General Counsel, handling complex legal work in alcoholic beverage regulation. Responsibilities include conducting legal research and analysis, representing the agency in administrative proceedings, supervising attorneys and support staff, drafting legal opinions, and providing strategic legal guidance to agency executives. The position is based in New York City on a full-time basis.
Key qualifications:
Admission to and good standing with the New York State Bar
Four years of subsequent professional legal experience following bar admission
Valid Driver's License issued by NYS Department of Motor Vehicle or capacity to meet transportation needs
Strong legal research and writing skills in administrative and regulatory law
Supervisory experience with attorneys and support staff
