Job description
Our client is a prestigious and well-known University Endowment located in Florida. The investment team consists of 7 professionals and manages over $7 billion in capital, which is invested across a broadly diversified range of asset classes.
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Associate Director/ Director of Investments for their lean but growing investment team. The Associate Director / Director will have a primary focus on researching and analyzing private investments (Private Equity, Venture, Real Estate, Private Credit, Infrastructure, etc.). This individual will work with the Senior Investment Director to oversee the allocation to private investments by identifying and sourcing investment opportunities, researching prospective investment managers, and evaluating current managers.
Responsibilities:
Work with Senior Investment Director to leave the investment process responsible for investing across private markets
Oversee ongoing monitoring of managers
Articulate key information and independent conclusions to the investment team
Evaluate potential investment opportunities, including sourcing and evaluation external managers as well as keeping abreast of market conditions
Negotiate fees and terms on new investments
Support the Portfolio Management Team by developing models to support forward-looking expectations and scenario analysis
Oversee “nowcasting” of private investment valuations to estimate mispricings and secondary market opportunities, and assist with co-investments
Contribute to the asset allocation and risk allocation process through detailed understanding of the broader portfolio
Assist the operations and investment teams to ensure accurate accounting and performance data is maintained in the portfolio management system
Generate reports for both internal and external stakeholders, including monthly pro-forma reports and quarterly reports for the Board of Directors
Qualifications:
5-12 years of relevant work experience at an endowment, foundation, corporate or public plan sponsor, family office, or other sophisticated investment platform
Strong academic performance and a Bachelor’s degree, MBA/CFA preferred but not required
Commitment to the Endowment’s missions
Strong financial modeling skills, general knowledge of portfolio theory, capital markets, and/or private equity
Willingness to travel
Intellectually curious, critical thinker and team player with strong interpersonal skills
