Associate Electrical Engineer (Power Systems & Distribution Planning)
Cleveland, OH
$35.00 - $40.00 per hour
Brooksource is seeking an entry-level Engineer to support electric utility planning, system reliability, and distribution operations. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career engineers looking to build a long-term career within the utilities and energy industry while gaining hands-on experience supporting critical infrastructure projects.
What You'll Do
Support power system planning and analysis activities for electric distribution systems.
Assist with engineering studies related to system capacity, reliability, load growth, and customer requests.
Learn and utilize utility engineering software to analyze electrical networks and system performance.
Support outage analysis, reliability improvement initiatives, and system reinforcement projects.
Assist in the development of technical reports, study findings, and engineering recommendations.
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and field teams to support safe and reliable service.
Participate in projects involving electrification, distributed generation, and grid modernization initiatives.
Gain exposure to system protection, relay coordination, and distribution system operations.
Support storm restoration efforts and other high-priority operational initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited institution required.
0-2 years of professional engineering experience (internships, co-ops, research, or project experience encouraged).
Strong interest in the utilities, energy, or power delivery industry.
Exposure to power systems, electrical distribution, protection and controls, or utility operations is a plus.
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam completion is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment and communicate technical information clearly.
Self-motivated, eager to learn, and interested in building a career supporting critical infrastructure.
Willingness to travel locally as needed and support occasional storm restoration activities.
